Connection of Arena sewer lines to City systems has started and is projected to continue through March. Per SDOT, this work will be done during daytime hours on weekends only.
This work is weather dependent.
As detailed in the map below, this weekend the work will be located on 1st Ave N and will include:
· Lane closures on the east side of 1st Ave N that will limit vehicular traffic to one lane at two different locations between W John St. and Harrison St. (see map for locations)
· Use of saw cutting and vac truck equipment. This will not start before 9 am.
· All existing pedestrian access will be maintained and proper staffing and safety measures will be in place.
Along with the Arena opening, the Seattle Department of Transportation has designed improvements that include curbside modifications, enhanced Uptown and Arena access through transit, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. As identified in the map above, street improvement work will start the week of March 8th at the intersection of Warren Ave N and John St. Demolition of concrete on the NE and NW corners is projected to start on Tuesday, 3/9 and take two days. This work will include use of heavy equipment that will be impactful and generate noise. Once corner work is done, sidewalk replacement on the West side of Warren Ave N betweek Thomas St. and John St. will commence.
Proper staffing and safety measures will be in place.
Once complete, street improvement work will move to Queen Anne Ave. between Mercer and Republican. Work will include sidewalk replacement.

SDOT approved the use of 2nd Ave for inbound and outbound trucks during the hours of
7 am–10 pm Mon.–Fri. and 9 am–10 pm Sat., Sun., and Holidays.
SDOT approved routes for all hours include westbound on Thomas St. to southbound Queen Anne Ave. N.
The Arena MPPCNV is activated.
Construction is allowed 24/7. Impact work hours are limited to daytime work only.

North Side – The landmarked curtain wall and glass have been fully installed. Placement of the event slab continues. All work will progress during daytime hours, which includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm for impact work. All other work will occur as permitted by the MPPCNV.
Renovation of the North Courtyards (upper and lower) continues. The Courtyards are now closed to the public and access will be limited to Seattle Center staff and Resident Organizations. Proper staffing and safety measures are in place. Courtyard work will be done during daytime hours only. As part of the North Courtyard renovation, SDCI has granted approval for the removal of the north segment of the sound wall with the condition that the Arena’s historic curtain wall is sealed.
South Side – The Alaska Airlines Atrium is framed and fully enclosed. Roofwork continues in preparation for the install of solar array panels. Interior work progresses with fireproofing and lighting installation. Slab placements are largely complete and start early morning. All work will be done during daytime hours, which includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm for impact work. All other work will occur as permitted by the MPPCNV.
Construction activity for utility work on Thomas St. between Warren Ave. N and 1st Ave. N continues. Use of saw cutting equipment may result in an increase in noise. Pedestrian access is maintained via detours. Proper staffing and safety measures are in place.
West Side – Structural steel erection continues with slab placements that start early morning. Excavation/backfill activities, along with underground utilities, are being installed during evening hours. All work will be done during daytime hours, which includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm for impact work. All other work will occur as permitted by the MPPCNV.
East Side – Structural steel erection continues along with slab placements that start early morning. All work will be done during daytime hours, which includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm for impact work. All other work will occur as permitted by the MPPCNV.
South Parcel (south of Pottery Northwest) – Connection of Arena sewer lines to City systems continues and is projected to continue through March. Per SDOT, this work will be done during daytime hours on weekends only. All other work will occur as permitted by the MPPCNV.
Bi-Weekly Arena Meeting – Open to all, the bi-weekly Arena meetings are open house forums to provide project updates and coordinate with stakeholders including but not limited to local businesses, communities, SDOT, SDCI and Seattle Center resident organizations on construction impacts and efforts to support ongoing activities at Seattle Center and in the adjacent communities.
